Reading the table

Changes compare the same calendar month, so seasonal swings cancel out. “Since start” runs from the first month BLS published for that item.

  • Two items stop early. BLS has not published newer months than the ones shown for them, so their dates sit under the price.
  • A missing month. BLS published no prices for October 2025 for most foods, because of the 2025 lapse in federal appropriations.
  • Left out. Discontinued items, such as Red Delicious apples (last priced Oct 2017), are not listed.
